The Narcotics Control Study Visit of Senior Officials from Uzbekistan

During 2-8 February, 2008, 6 senior officials led by Mr. Kamal Dusmetov, Director of the National Center on Drug Control, Republic of Uzbekistan had a study visit on narcotics control in Thailand. The group has visited ONCB, Police Narcotics Suppression Bureau, in Bangkok, and observed the work on drug treatment and rehabilitation at Thanyarak Institute, Pathumthani Province.  In Chiang Mai, the group visited Border Patrol Police Region 3 and observed the Royal Project on alternative replacement program at Ban Nong Hoi Village. In Chiang Rai, the group has observed the work on sustainable alternative development program of Doi Tung Development Project and Hall of Opium, Mae Fah Luang Foundation. In addition, the group also had an opportunity to observe the work on drugs interdiction along the borderline of Royal Thai authorities at Doi Chang Moob Military Camp and Golden Triangle Area, Mekong River, where Thailand shares her border with Myanmar and Lao PDR.

Nonetheless, Thailand and Uzbekistan have signed an Agreed Minute on the Draft of MOU on the Cooperation in Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and Precursor Chemicals Control as well.
